The Trade Policy Department carries out activities related to membership of the Republic of Croatia in the World Trade Organization - WTO; proposes and implements trade policy measures; implements and follows up fulfilment of commitments pursuant to trade agreements, in particularly of the free trade agreements, participates in activities related to EU accession preparations of the Republic of Croatia and follows up its implementation;
prepares negotiating platforms and participates in EU membership negotiations, carries out activities related to harmonization of Croatian legislation with the EU legislation, referring to the area within the competence of the Ministry, proposes amendments and passing of laws in accordance with the EU standards, implements and follows up the free trade agreements with the CEFTA and EFTA countries, participates in activities of the Stability Pact for South-East Europe, prepares negotiating documents for trade negotiations within the World Trade Organization - WTO and other international trade integrations;
fulfils international commitments of the Republic of Croatia in the area referring to trade policy and foreign trade, participates in establishing cooperation and activities of other bodies of international economic organizations and institutions, issues export and import licences, carries out other activities within its scope.
