The Shipbuilding Department carries out professional activities related to shipbuilding, follows up the status of shipbuilding activities; proposes measures for improving the status and competitive capacities of the shipyards; proposes systematic solutions with respect to financing of production and marketing of the ships; follows up the impact of the macroeconomic policy to economic status of shipbuilding;

follows up the world trends on the shipbuilding market and proposes measures in case of market disruptions; oversees and directs the shipyards’ restructuring and privatization process; encourages cooperation between the shipyards, as well as the cooperation between the shipbuilders, ship equipment manufacturers and shipping companies in the Republic of Croatia; cooperates with other central government bodies and other organizational units of the Ministry;

carries out professional activities related to international agreements in the are of shipbuilding, carries out activities related to preparing and enforcement of laws and other regulations in the area of shipbuilding, carries out activities related to harmonization of national legislation with the EU legislation in the area of shipbuilding.

The Shipbuilding Department carries out administrative operations related to allocation of funds from the State Budged apportioned for subventions, provides opinions in the procedure of granting state guarantees, oversees the operations of state owned shipyards; carries out other activities within its scope.
